DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Under close supervision, ensures the proper day-to-day operation of technology applications and computer equipment. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides support to employees or customers regarding technical inquiries.  Diagnoses to isolate the nature of the problem and resolves simple to basic support issues.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves software, hardware and network failures.
  • Performs the installation, configuration, upgrades, repair and preventative maintenance of software, hardware and/or systems.
  • Thoroughly documents cases to ensure continuity of information and adherence to customer service standards.
  • Maintains awareness of current tools, methodologies and technologies associated to IT support.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • No previous job-related experience required; customer service skills preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Learning to use professional concepts.  Works on projects of limited scope and complexity.  Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Basic knowledge of endpoint computing devices.
  • Basic organizational and planning skills.
  • Basic interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner.
  • Able to prioritize cases and resolve time-sensitive issues.
  • Able to understand and convey terms and concepts related to technical support.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Combination of a typical office setting with environmentally controlled conditions, non-environmentally controlled conditions, and customer desk-side support.
  • Nature of job may require considerable walking and ability to bend and crawl to access floor-level equipment/hardware; must be able to lift 15 lbs. multiple times a day.
  • Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
