Software Engineer, Senior (.Net / SSIS)

Software Engineer  needed for either the Shawnee Mission, KS; Lenexa,  KS, or Springfield, MO locations to be responsible for leading development of product enhancements, bug corrections, and support of the jhaKnow data warehousing product, working closely with other developers, a business analyst, and a quality assurance specialist. This position would be for a lead technical developer with significant experience programming in .NET and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 


Under minimal supervision, participates in the technical design and implementation of new products or enhancements.  Participates in all phases of the development cycle:  concept, technical design, prototype, code development, testing, release to QA and implementation.



  • Product functionality enhancements and alterations through .NET coding of the application portal, creation of complex SQL Server SSIS packages, recommending solutions to product challenges, and meeting product deliverable timeframes.  Ability to switch gears quickly to diagnose critical/time-sensitive problems and find solutions when the Installation and Support team needs assistance.

  • Completes product technical design and prototyping, software development, bug verification and resolution. 
  • Performs system analysis and programming activities which may require extensive research and analysis.
  • Provides technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application.
  • Provides both individual and budget-level tasks and product effort estimates/costs.
  • Ensures timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production, both at an individual and team level.
  • Develops and tests applications based on business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Creates required technical documentation.
  • Adheres to documented departmental and corporate standards.  Participates in the definition and documentation of standards.
  • Collaboratively works with QA team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaboratively works with customer support team to resolve or diagnose defects.
  • Performs release validation testing and beta support for projects.
  • Researches problems and develops solutions to the problems.
  • Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.
  • Assists in training and mentoring less experienced peers.
  • May contribute to product architecture.
  • May assist less experienced peers.



  • Bachelor’s degree required; business, software engineering, or computer science degree preferred; advanced degree desirable.
  • Excellent .NET and SQL Server development skills in the areas of Visual Basic, Powershell scripting, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
  • Minimum of six to nine years of technical experience in software development or related field; or
  • Must have the ability to adapt and learn  other technologies as needed..
  • Ability to provide technical and architectural leadership.
  • Ability to evaluate competing ideas and analyze trade-offs.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to stay up to date on technologies and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills 

Extensive Experience with:

  • SQL Server including Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services
  • Data warehousing, star schema and denormalized data structures
  • .NET programming

 Moderate Experience with:

  • Relational and multi-dimensional data modeling
  • Data quality validation and testing
  • Team Foundation Services (TFS)
  • General Web development skills and technologies

Good working knowledge of:

  • Banking and financial services industry

  • Microsoft and other programming/software engineering related certifications a plus and/or an active desire to pursue such certifications.
