Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all aspects of the internal and external reporting of financial information for the investment fund products (the "Funds”) for the Dynamic and Scotia brands;
· Responsible for the preparation, coordination, production and review of the financial statement and MRFP production process (quarter/semi/annual) and ensures that all regulatory reporting requirements are met;
· Ensures appropriate disclosure per regulations (e.g. CICA, IFIC, OSC) including disclosure requirements for new products, changes in accounting policies and changes in GAAP;
· Coordinates and training of staff resources with Fund Accounting to ensure that financial statements production process completed and filed in an accurate and timely manner;
· Coordinates with auditors in regards to audit planning, ensuring audit queries are dealt with by staff;
· Liaise with appropriate groups on new fund launches to ensure coordination with auditors for completion of all related audit documentation;
· Reviews initial and prospectus renewals for reasonability and appropriateness of information;
· Responsible for the review of fund expenses, fund budget, MER and absorption calculations to ensure appropriately calculated and any issues highlighted/resolved;
· Participates & delegates on special projects as required providing input on financial reporting, fund fact sheet, prospectus renewals, new fund launches, etc;
· Identifies internal control and systems improvements and implements process and procedure changes;
· Interacts with senior management, other departments and various external parties providing information as required;
· Keeping up to date on new developments within the company and industry.
Skills and Experience:
· University Degree with a professional accounting designation;
· CA, CGA, CMA designation;
· Minimum 3 years of related experience in the mutual fund industry Experience in a supervisory / managerial role is an asset;
· Proficient in MS Office (Excel & Access);
· Experience working within a team environment;
· Strong interpersonal skills allowing effective interaction with senior management and team members;
· Highly self-motivated with strong time-management abilities;
· Strong analytical and problem resolution skills;
· Self starter (initiative, ability to work productively without supervision);
· Good written and verbal communication skills;
· Easy to work with and energetic;
· Experience presenting material to senior management;
· Ability to lead high volume, time sensitive projects;
· Demonstrated leadership and team management skills; and
· Ability to motivate, train, and evaluate staff.
