Position Overview:
 
The Hourly Payroll Administrator in our Payroll department is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of multiple hourly payrolls including unionized on a regular basis.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Processing of multiple unionized payrolls on a weekly/daily basis
  • Set up, update and maintain employee information into the system in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collect, analyze, enter, calculate and verify payroll information, including hours and statutory deductions
  • Review time sheets and other pay documents for accuracy, completeness and authorization in accordance with company policies
  • Coordination of payroll activities to ensure all pay data is compiled, processed and reconciled on time to meet all payroll deadlines.
  • Verify all information received is complete, i.e. new hire forms, employee rate change form, tax forms, etc.
  • Coding of maintenance employees hours and equipment hours to appropriate equipment units
  • Responding to payroll inquiries from employee, government agencies, finance, unions concerning basic payroll matters.
  • Sorting and distributing of paystubs to proper site locations
  • Coordinate employee's rate changes, hires, terminations, adjustments and payroll forms from sites
  • Assisting with month end/year end procedures / balancing
  • Other ad hoc duties that may be assigned from time to time
 
 
Required Knowledge & Skills:
 
  • Ability to multi-task and work under extremely tight time lines
  • Previous payroll experience in a multi payroll environment with multiple union agreements and trades
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll, job cost and financial accounting
  • Enrollment in the CPA program would be an asset
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented and excellent time management skills
  • Above average computer skills (data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy)
  • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills
