Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager will be accountable for the management of the administrative HR function, supporting several business segments. The Administration Function includes recruitment support and reporting, maintaining and leveraging Aecon’s recruitment data base, benefits & pension administration, payroll administration, maintenance of HRIS and related reporting, training & development tracking and support, performance review tracking, HR metrics, employee transfers, etc.   In addition to the supervision of an administration team, the incumbent for this role will also directly support a key client group
  • Provides guidance, direction and advice to the Management team regarding employment related issues including but not limited to the interpretation of company policies & procedures, recruitment & selection strategy, performance management, terminations, strategic planning, training & development and benefits administration
  • Manage and oversee the daily direction of the Human Resources Administration team, working closely with the Director of HR
  • Ensure accurate system usage and reporting capability for on-line application system, HRIS, and Training systems
  • Develops, implements, coordinates policies and programs covering employment, wage and salary administration, orientation and training, benefits and employee services
  • Evaluates training needs, selects types of training needed, reinforce training, track training
  • Liaise with the Payroll department and management team regarding all employment related information and the accuracy of processing employment information into the system
  • Develop and implement procedures and processes to increase the efficiency of our business
  • Ensures that the interests of employees and company are considered in accordance with HR policies and applicable government laws and regulations – i.e.: ESA, Human Rights Code
  • Performance Management System – oversees the annual performance review process. Address any performance issues with the individuals and their respect management group
  • Work in conjunction with the Management team on all Recruitment related activities and develop strategies to increase the effectiveness of our hiring processes. Post jobs accordingly, advertise and screen candidates for selection
  • Assures that the division’s compensation program is competitive and equitable for the region
  • Ensure administration team is able to address employee inquiries regarding overall company benefit programs and services
  • Oversee Employee Recognition programs – service awards, retirements, community service
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Post secondary school education in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP designation
  • Strong preference for 2-4 years supervision experience
  • Strong preference for 5-7 years HR Generalist experience
  • Microsoft Office Products
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve employee relations matters
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong reporting, analytical and process improvement skills
  • Ability to build a consensus among the management team to support human resources strategies
