Department Overview

The Office of the General Counsel serves as legal counsel to Partners and its affiliates, which include Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital and North Shore Medical Center.

DESCRIPTION

General Overview

The student will: 

  • Research health care legal issues and summarize conclusions
  • Assist senior attorneys on a variety of matters including legal issues related to tax-exempt organizations, patient care, academic medical research, and other general corporate matters
  • Review general contracts
  • Assist with various adversarial matters, including contract disputes, employment litigation and medical staff appeals.

Requirements
  • Must have completed two years of law school. 
  • Corporate in-house or law firm setting experience strongly preferred
  • Health care experience and/or class work helpful but not necessary
  • Strong academic credentials, writing, and interpersonal skills.
